I’ve been focusing on music this year and it’s been a super interesting, expensive, exhilarating ride. The year has flown by. I put out my first project in April. It’s called Eshu Tune. My music name is Eshu Tune. Very straightforward stuff. I’m proud of the songs but I’ve definitely improved since then. I’m super appreciative of everyone that worked on that project with me. The first track of the 8 that I recorded was Kept About 3. I recorded that with Andrew Vastola on Kauai. The original long version of Kept about 3 also the starting pieces of 1-3 pocket on it. I feel myself getting into a track by track break down so I might as well just do it. Actually, I’ll just do a video series of that at another time. As I write this, I’m realizing that some of you may not even know these songs. If you don’t then catch up.
I’m in Toronto right now. I did my first TV acting gig in a few years. I still don’t think I have the temperament to be on set for a week but one day in and out felt great.
I’m doing my only comedy club shows of the year in Charlotte this weekend. If you asked me in April if I’d be doing a comedy club in December I would’ve said HELL NAW. I was so locked in on music and the idea of grinding out a comedy set seemed annoying as hell.
Something about just putting it on the calendar helped my brain write a lot. The writing muscle is there.
On paper the stuff I’m coming up with feels tighter and more direct than previous stand up. I think that’s a product of the songwriting. With writing songs, you only have so much space so each line has to mean something or have real function. We’ll see how the stand up performance chops are. The Thursday show will be exciting because it’s the first one, but I’ll really catch the groove by the time we hit the Saturday shows.
I’m Ending this article abruptly.
Thanks to all the journalists and hosts that have helped amplify and cover the music.
Thanks for subscribing. I’m looking forward to being more active over here. It feels good to write long form.

I never would have called you as an Omo Eshu. Love Eshu, but you're too jolly for that. You're more of an Obatala character. But I am excited to see whatever you do here, because I've been a fan since you were wearing tinfoil helmets on 30 Rock. And I love your face!
Its dope to get a more in depth feel, connection with the journey. It's motivational to see!!!
